ELLEN PETERS DENNIS
Cedar Rapids
Ellen Peters Dennis, born Feb. 2, 1952, to Melvin and Elaine Peters, passed suddenly from this world on Jan. 12, 2017. She was a member of a small family and an army of friends, all of whom will miss her.
She leaves behind her husband, David; daughter, Hannah (Will) Robertson, and son, Peter (Katie) Ilten; along with granddaughters, Cora and Quinn Robertson and Harriet Ilten; and grandson, Joseph Ilten. Also left to honor her memory are half sister, Janet McMillan; niece, Chris Cooley; and nephews, Steve (Judy) McMillan and Mark (Chrystal) McMillan. She also would make sure that we mentioned Dudley and Scarlett (birds) and Bob and Tom (cats).
There is not enough space or capacity to begin detailing the impact she made on every person who met her. As a friend, she was the best listener, supporter, and cheerleader. She was a world traveler who maintained friendships across the globe and regaled her friends locally with stories of her journeys. Her passion for life and humor were unmatched; there is not one person who does not have humorous anecdotes or vivacious memories of their time with Ellen.
To her family, no one could want for a better wife, mother or grandmother. She fiercely adored and loved her family; she enjoyed caring for all of her pets, playing with her grandchildren, teaching her kids to be adventurous and respectful, and being a supportive wife every day. She was intelligent, strong and compassionate, and we will deeply miss her vigor for life.
A visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
