Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Bowen, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Visitation: 5 – 7 p.m. August 15, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. August 16, 2025, at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at East Clermont Lutheran Church Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa.
Survivors include her son, Andrew Bowen; granddaughter, Lauren Bowen (Jayden); siblings, Ruthie (Jerry) Trudo, Erling (Mary) Bilden, Brenda (Dave) Coen, Debra (Noel) Knight, James Bilden; several nieces and nephews; and her inseparable dog, Isabella.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Bowen; siblings, Harlan Tilpher Bilden and Marian Bilden Russ; and brother-in-law, Elmer Russ.
Liz was born January 31, 1950, in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Tilpher and Deloris (Larson) Bilden. After high school, she attended Paris Academy Cosmetology School and was a self-employed cosmetologist for 55 years. On December 4, 1971, Liz was united in marriage to Michael Bowen.
Liz was a wonderful wife and mother. She had the patience of Job and always had a smile on her face. She helped raise her granddaughter and best friend, Lauren, from the third grade through high school. Liz enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, sharing her baked goods with others, and canning her prized possessions. She was the best dog mom to Isabella and enjoyed spoiling her. Liz was a member of East Clermont Lutheran Church and Cosmetology Association of Iowa.
