ELIZABETH "BETTY" MAE DYKEMA

Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Dykema passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Peace Christian Reformed Church. A visitation will be held fr0m 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Betty was born on Feb. 9, 1927, to Oney and Katie (Bruxvoort) Arkema in Sully, Iowa. She married Earl Dykema on Aug. 12, 1952, in Sully. She worked in food service at Linn-Mar Schools.
Betty was an active member at Peace Christian Reformed Church in Cedar Rapids. She called herself "God's Kid" and reminded everyone she met that they were "God's Kid" as well.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Earl Dykema of Marion; their three children, Richard (Faye) Dykema of Palo, Susan Dykema of Anchorage, Alaska, Philip Dykema and Peter Lundeen of Ames; two grandchildren, David Dykema and Deanna Julich; two great-granddaughters; and six siblings, Alan, Lewis, Edwin, Hermina, Grace and June.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators in care of Marcia Bleeker.
