Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Boots, 97, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2024. Betty spent the last year of her life in the loving care of her daughter. Visitation: 10 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Betty was born January 22, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter to Stella Kress. Throughout her life, she was raised lovingly by her grandparents, Hannah and Joseph. Betty graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1944. She married Clarence Boots on February 5, 1945, in Tipton, Iowa. She worked for U.S. Nameplate for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
She was deeply devoted to her faith as a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mechanicsville and served as a Guild and Royal Neighbors member. Betty’s first love was her family, she also enjoyed playing pinnacle, bingo, reading, writing, crosswords, going on walks, Betty Boop, and bird watching.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Marcella; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jamal), Korie (Sonya), and Katie; great grandchildren, Ash, Anthony, Andrew, Ashton, Alexis, Andenn and Akenna; brother, Jim (Connie); and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Hannah (Joseph); husband, Clarence; infant daughter, Maxine; and siblings, Mary Ann, Joann, Jane, and Wallace.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, or the church of your choice.
