Elizabeth “Bette” Hoeller Janik, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 20, 1929, and grew up in Shorewood, a suburb of Milwaukee. As per Bette’s wishes there will be no service in Cedar Rapids, and her cremains will be buried next to her husband, Tom in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Bette is survived by her 16 nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, and the Chio family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother and sister.
Bette and Tom moved west of the Mississippi in 1960, then to Cedar Rapids. It became their home, and the years were filled with good memories. Bette was an active volunteer at Mercy Hospital, Brucemore, and the Art Museum. Her interests included the arts and music, or you could find her playing tennis, swimming, biking, or speed walking. She will be missed by her family that she loved so much, and the friends she shared her life with.
