ELIZABETH ANN HAJEK
Scottsdale, Ariz.
On Sept. 27, 2021, Elizabeth Ann Hajek, 89, passed away peacefully at home in Scottsdale, Ariz., with family at her side. She lived for many years in Cedar Rapids and later Mount Vernon.
Elizabeth lived a very full life. She was married for 62 years to Vernon Ray Hajek until his passing in 2013. They were blessed with eight children. Elizabeth had a career as an interior decorator. She accomplished getting her college degree after raising their eight children.
Elizabeth was an avid reader, she was a talented seamstress and loved crafting. She enjoyed
knitting, crocheting and doing needlepoint.
After retirement Elizabeth and her loving husband enjoyed traveling and wintering at their second home in Surprise, Ariz.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Thomas Hajek (Deborah) Phoenix, Ariz., David Hajek (Bobbi) Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jon Hajek (Mary) Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Alan Hajek (Bobette) Chandler, Ariz., Holly Kaufman (Seth), Ankeny, Iowa, Diane Vrbicek (Robb) Midlothian, Va., Susie Hajek (deceased) and Matthew Hajek, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by her sister, Ellen Casanova, Waukesha, Wis. Elizabeth was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Camp Courageous in Monticello, Iowa, or the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
