Eleanor Jean Spicer, 82, of Marion, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Higley Mansion Care Center. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Kwenin. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Anamosa. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday after
10 a.m. at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Tim (Brenda) Spicer of Marion; two daughters, Rhonda (Bryan) Corum of Central City and Carleen Hinchman of Marion; six grandchildren, Liz (Jeff) Baych, Val Spicer, Sarah and Jay Corum and Landon and Alaxandra Hinchman; and four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Colton, Brielle and MacLynn.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Landon Spicer; daughter, Luella; and siblings.
Eleanor was born March 27, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Elsie May Joslin Walsh. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Patrick High School in Cedar Rapids. She married Landon Spicer on Oct. 11, 1958, at the Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in San Pedro, Calif. Landon died in 1996. Eleanor retired after 32 years with Rockwell Collins.
Eleanor loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed shopping and going to the casino. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Higley Mansion Care Center and Hospice of Mercy for the compassion and care they gave Eleanor.
