ELEANOR "ELLIE" CHARIPAR

Eleanor "Ellie" Charipar, 77, of Swisher, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at her home following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by the Rev. Brian Dellaert. Burial: St. John Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 3 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
Ellie is survived by her husband, Dennis; their children, Lynne (Larry) Hambel of Rockford, Ill., Paul (Nancy) of Cedar Rapids, Dennis J. (Deb) of Marion, and Bruce (Jamy), Carolyn (Mike) Matthews and Craig (Jodie), all of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren, Samantha Hambel and fiance, Zach Zenzen, Lauren (Joe) Altamore and Nicholas Hambel, Alison Charipar, Molly (Bill) Rolling and Ben Charipar, Andrew, Alex and Logan Charipar, Brandon and Tim Charipar, Morgan (Kyler) Miller, Chelsea and Hunter Matthews; and two great-grandchildren, Weston Miller and Joanna Altamore.
She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Marie (Edwin) Lindauer; and sister-in-law, Mary Coohey.
Eleanor Teresa was born May 5, 1939, in Dubuque, the daughter of Francis and Mary Rea Coohey, and attended Clarke College. She married Dr. Dennis R. Charipar at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bernard on June 13, 1959.
Ellie loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. Her warm, inviting smile and generous heart made everyone feel welcomed. She loved celebrating Christmas, traveling and playing tennis. Eleanor was a member and volunteer for the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Cedar Rapids Symphony and Home Garden Club.
