Eleanor Marie (Stinocher) Brumwell, 81, of Solon, passed away in her home on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre.
Eleanor was born May 27, 1935, in her parents' home in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Povonder) Stinocher. She was united in marriage to Norman Brumwell on March 10, 1956, in Iowa City.
Together they worked in the family business, Brumwell Flour Mill, which was started in Solon and later moved to South Amana. Eleanor's passion was baking bread, especially kolaches. She enjoyed mushroom hunting in the spring, sewing and quilting. The time spent with her loving family was very important to her.
Eleanor is survived by husband of over 60 years, Norman "Doc"; her children, Scott (Jayne) Brumwell of Solon, Dale Brumwell of Iowa City and Janet Glenn of North Liberty; five grandchildren, Hannah (Jason) Grimm, Jenni Brumwell, A.J. Brumwell, Sam Glenn and Justin Glenn; and one great-grandson, Elliot Grimm.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
