Elaine Marie Husmann, 89, of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden with the Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Anamosa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 3 to
6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Elaine was born on April 22, 1929, to Edgar and Gladys (Clark) Lyon in Linn County, Iowa. She married Ernest Husmann on April 9, 1950, in Wyoming, Iowa. He died in 1997.
Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. She taught Sunday school for 29 years and enjoyed attending Pathways Adult Daycare in Iowa City, riding her River Bend Transit bus and puzzles. She also loved her cat Rascal, circle-a-word and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Eloise (Mike) Lynch of Olathe, Kan.; four sons, Edward (Patricia) of Independence, Ernest Jr. (Cheryl) of Berea, Ky., Everett of Clarence and Eric of Anamosa; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Tenley of Stanwood and Pat (George) Zirkelbach of Olin; and brother, Darwin (Darlene) Lyon of Maquoketa.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; two sisters; and granddaughter, Jennifer Husmann.
