Elaine Hamilton, 85, of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, formerly of Shueyville, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Elaine was born June 9, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, to George and Genevieve (Gatewood) Stritesky. She was united in marriage to Keith Hamilton on Oct. 14, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. To this union, five children were born. Elaine was employed by Northwestern Bell as a supervisor of operator services until her retirement.

Elaine enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, taking joy in gardening and spending time with her beloved family. She will be missed by those who loved her.

Elaine is survived by her children, Cheryl (William) Sears of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, Denise (Carl) Vick of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, Cynthia (Steven) Montour of Osakis, Minn., Michael Hamilton of Lisbon, Iowa, and Laura (Aubrey) Dawlearn of Edna, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Michelle (Shawn) Eiland, Jennifer (Donald) Keen, Dustin Duball, Amber (Alan) Thompson, Valerie Duball, Nicholas (Kelly) Montour, Derek (Sara) Montour, Adam (Rachel) Montour, Brenna and Austin Hamilton, Heather (Josh) Doyle, and Collin (Kristi) Dawlearn; as well as 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith, in 1991; and sister, LaVonne Faust.
