Elaine D. Dunker, 87, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Keystone, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Luncheon following burial at Van Horne Community Center at 1 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
Elaine was born on Jan. 9, 1936, the daughter of Glenn and Velma (McElroy) Abraham. She grew up on a farm, south of Vinton, and graduated from Van Horne High School with the Class of 1953. On March 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to William H. Dunker at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. Bill and Elaine farmed in the Keystone area until his death in 1995. Elaine had become a counselor and later a director with ASAC in Cedar Rapids, where she served for over 15 years. Elaine was very active in her church where she played piano. She was involved in numerous community activities and groups over the years. Elaine loved to serve others and was a gracious host. And most of all she loved her Lord and her family.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Rich) Etscheidt of Newhall, Todd (Elena) Dunker of Keystone and Brooke Anderson of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Tamara (Nick) Larma, Kelly (Scott) Morris, Spencer (Jessica Wilson) Olson, Christopher Dunker, Angela (Willy) George and Herbie Lauer; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Brad Dunker in 1976; son-in-law, Luckie Anderson; great-grandson, Levi; and her brother, John Abraham.
