Elaine M. Andre, 79, of Marion, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Marion. The Rev. Vicki Standley will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church after 10 a.m. Thursday.
Survivors include her husband, Darrel; a daughter, Renee (Ron) Valenta of Cedar Rapids; and two sons, Darin of Cedar Rapids and Jeffrey of Tucson, Ariz. She is also survived by a grandson, Trenton Recker; one niece; and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin; her sister, Joyce Polehna; and her nephew, Todd Polehna.
Elaine was born July 20, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Milo and Lillian Svec Heral. She married Darrel L. Andre on April 12, 1959, in Cedar Rapids.
Elaine worked at Stejkal Flower Shop for several years and later did volunteer work at the flower shop at Mercy Medical Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Elaine loved music and was a member of the church choir and the Music Lit Club. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and especially the time spent with her friends and beloved family. Elaine's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ghosh, Dr. Hagen and their staffs, the Mercy Healing Center and the Hospice House of Mercy for the loving care given to Elaine.
