Eileen Marie Schneider, 81, of Riverside, passed away at her home on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside, with a 4 p.m. rosary service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice in memory of Eileen.

Eileen Marie O'Brien was born Aug. 23, 1935, the daughter of William and Mary (Cooney) O'Brien. She was a 1953 graduate of Iowa City High School. On Feb. 27, 1954, Eileen was united in marriage to William "Bill" Leroy Schneider in Iowa City. Eileen raised her family and helped on the farm. Later in life she worked as a nurse at Pleasantview Home.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary, KUB Card Club and a 4-H leader.
Eileen enjoyed playing cards, family get-togethers, attending her grandchildren's events, and spending time with her friends and family.
Eileen will be deeply missed by her children, Karen (John) Becker of The Villages, Fla., Carol (Rex) Flansburg of Riverside, Linda (Tom) Marie of Washington, Rich (Bev) Schneider of Riverside and Mary Kay (Mike) Downes of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Cleola Schneider of Iowa City.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, on Aug. 5, 1993; three brothers, Edwin, Eugene and John; and two sisters, Rosemary Miller and Kathleen Young.
