EILEEN REDMOND

Eileen Redmond, 81, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with vigil service starting at 4 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Shirley Redmond of Marion, Karen (Chuck) Crutchley of Mount Vernon, John (Diane) Redmond of Watkins, Barbara Redmond of North Richland Hills, Texas, Linda (Neal) Vaughn of Anamosa and Jim Redmond of Marion; grandchildren, Teresa, Adam, Blake, Valerie, Matt, Lorie, Taylor, Brandon, Nate, Brady, Kellie, Dillon, Michael, Nic and Jordyn; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gerry Skahill of Dubuque, Madonna (Paul) McAndrew of Dubuque, Willie (Mary Ann) Merfeld of Bellevue and Carl Merfeld of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Raymond Carl Redmond; sisters, Grace Kane, Margaret Buchanan, Mary Tigges and LaVerne Merfeld; and brothers, Orlie and Leonard Merfeld.
Eileen was born Dec. 25, 1933, to Leo and Lettie (Rogers) Merfeld in Dubuque. After graduating high school, she married Allan John Redmond on April 13, 1955, in Garryowen, Iowa. Eileen was very proud of her volunteer time at Mercy Medical Center. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion, where she helped with funeral luncheons for many years. She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Allan. Eileen's most enjoyable moments were spent with her family, friends and attending her grandchildren's events.
