Eileen M. Phelps, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Independence, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred Miller Jamieson. She married William J. "Bill" Phelps on Aug. 29, 1952, in Waterloo. He died Aug. 22, 2004. Eileen was employed with Schoitz Memorial Hospital and later with Lattin Photography.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth (Sharice) Phelps of Park City, Kan., Craig (Rhonda) Phelps of Marion, Ronald Phelps of Overland Park, Kan., and Kevin (Pam) Phelps of Evansdale; a daughter, Sharon (Sam) Blackford of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Phelps of Olathe, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, Tom (Sheryl) Blackford, Suzanne (Isaiah) Dorsch, Matthew (Ashley) Blackford, Amber (Justin) Jeffries, Jared, Remmington (Megan), Aaron William, Alexander, Andrew (Jill), Aaron Riley (Stefanie), Elliott and Mason Phelps; three stepgrandchildren, Jason (Kayla) Gearhart, Carrie (Andrew) Siefer and Amy Jordan; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon (Mary) Jamieson of Brooksville, Fla., and Roger (Sally) Jamieson of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Jamieson of Minnesota; and a special friend, Harley "Dean" Bland of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Richard Jamieson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Valley Community Church, 3520 Ansborough Ave., with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, 300 W. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, and at the church for one hour before services Friday.
