Egan, Robert A.
Robert A. Egan, 41, a resident of Central City, died suddenly Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Neil Manternach. The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour before the mass Monday at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; father, Frank Egan; mother, Beverly (Lee) Voelker; and brothers, Charles (Jolene) Egan and David (Tasha) Egan, all of Marion; sister, Lisa Egan of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Bradly, Kara, Emma and Golyfe; and great-niece, Kali. He is also survived by his dog, Cocoa, and horse, Whip.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Marie; and grandparents, Lawrence and Mary Weber and Richard and Jeanette Egan.
Robert was born Jan. 19, 1971, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Frank Egan and Beverly Voelker. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1990 and from the CNC Machinist program and the Culinary Arts program at Kirkwood Community College.
Robert was an avid hunter, and loved fishing and playing golf with his friends. He loved life and was a chef at Coe College for the past few years. Robert was loved by his fellow workers, and many of the students at Coe.
He will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but by the many lives he has touched in his short life.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations in Robert's honor.
