Edwin F. Skripsky, 95, of Winthrop, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at the Buchanan County Health Center's Hospice Unit in Independence, Iowa.
Edwin was born on July 24, 1922, in Monroe Township of Linn County, Iowa, the son of John and Nettie (Hepker) Skripsky. He attended rural schools in Linn County, and served with the U.S. Army from March 18, 1946, through Sept. 5, 1947, as a mechanic during the Korean conflict. On Sept. 19, 1953, he married Beulah M. Forsythe in Kahoka, Mo. The couple farmed in Buchanan County. Edwin also was employed repairing milk machinery with Joe Lenius and tiling with Stewart Aldrich.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah; two daughters, Sharon (Lester) Newton, Oelwein, Iowa, and Debra (Larry) Lynn, Winthrop, Iowa; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Skripsky.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Independence, Iowa, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence, Iowa.
