Edwin B. Gorius, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral Mass: noon Saturday, Dec. 5, at St Jude's Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, June (John) Paul of Napa, Calif., Mary (Ken) Kray of Delhi, Bill (Connie) Gorius of Ankeny, Teri (Dan) Roth of Coralville and Linda (Bruce) Reynolds of Cosgrove; grandchildren, Sarah, Jon, Tiffany, Shelby, Callie and Brittany, three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two siblings, Dorothy Huerter of Anamosa and Walt Gorius of Salinas, Calif.; and his dear friend, Kay Crowley.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Born May 13, 1930, Ed was the son of Joe and Rose Gorius in Anamosa, Iowa. On May 13, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Foley in Marion. Ed retired from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, in the HVAC Department in 1991.
He was very proud of the 10 years he spent as a volunteer firefighter for the Coralville Fire Department. Ed also was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and time with family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Mercy of Cedar Rapids in memory of Ed and Betty Gorius.
The family thanks Dr. Melanie Stahlberg for her years of care and compassion.
