EDWARD TRECEK
Waukesha, Wis.
Edward Trecek, 95, passed away to heaven Feb. 3, 2019, in Waukesha, Wis., near the home of his daughter, Evelyn Scharlau. He was born April 21, 1923, in Blue River, Wis. His parents came to the United States in 1911 with five children. They left Czechoslovakia because of religious persecution. Bibles were being burned in public fires, so his mother hid her Bible in a loaf of bread. While here, they had six more children, nine boys and two girls in all. His dad died in a house fire and two months later, Edward was born, so he was raised by his siblings and mother.
In his early twenties, he trusted Christ as his Savior. He married Barbara in 1945 and on April 15, 2018, they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. Growing up, he worked on his family farm. While married, he started out working on a farm but later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where his two sisters and mother lived. There he got a job at Link Belt where he was also trained as an engineer and later worked for Rockwell until he retired. He was always active in church, teaching, preaching and singing, and taught many home Bible studies. It was his life goal to live for the Lord and study His Word.
Edward and Barbara had three daughters, Evelyn Scharlau (Richard) and fraternal twins, Sylvia Dudley (Daniel) and Susan Rogers (Steve). Susan had cystic fibrosis and died at age 31. He was always a good and loving father and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Trecek, who is 91 years old; and their two daughters, Evelyn and Sylvia; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
His siblings all preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Cesarz, Charapata and Zinnecker Funeral Home at 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, Wis., at 10 a.m. on Feb. 9. Funeral services will follow immediately at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peoria Rescue Mission, 310 SW Adams St., P.O. Box 837, Peoria, IL 61652-0837.
