Edward Oltmanns, 71, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at UnityPoint Jones Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at SS Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, in rural Monticello. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Hill Cemetery. Edward John Oltmanns was born July 11, 1950, in Monticello, the son of Emil and Gertrude (Wise) Oltmanns. He attended schools in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School in 1968. He married Grace Topping on Sept. 27, 1975, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. He was employed as a meat cutter at Wilson Foods, later Farmstead, in Cedar Rapids. After Farmstead closed operations, he worked as an assembler at Ertl Toys in Dyersville. When Ertl closed operations he went to work at Pearson Educational in Cedar Rapids. He retired in 2013.
Edward was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. He enjoyed attending his childrens' sports activities, working puzzles and babysitting his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Grace; his children, Chris Oltmanns, Anamosa, Michael (Patty) Oltmanns, Middlebury, Ind., and Heather (Tyler Koppenhaver) Oltmanns, Anamosa; grandchildren, Christina, Mercedes, Rhinhart, Dominic, Espan, Brandin, Nicholas, Alexander and Kaydence; stepgrandchildren, Dustin and Derrick; his siblings, Bob (Joan) Oltmanns, Center Junction, Evie Balttner, Cedar Rapids, Carol Oltmanns, Ely, and Jackie (Jim) Lovell, Alburnett; his in-laws, Bill Topping, Anamosa, Karen (Dennis) Fleming, Anamosa, and Ron (Vanessa) Topping, Muskogee, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Sharon (Steve) Harken, Monticello; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother -in-law, Rhinhart and Helen Topping; a brother, Dave; and a brother-in-law, Russ Blattner.
The family would like to thank their extended family and friends for their care and support during this time and the entire staff of UnityPoint Jones Regional Medical Center.
