Edward "Ed" E. Lingo, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Living Center West. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Brian Reeves. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Ed is survived by his wife, Edna; brother, Charles (Ann) Lingo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John; stepsister, Orva; and stepbrother, Russell.
Edward Everett Lingo was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Keokuk, the son of Everett and Mabel. Ed attended Wilson High School. He married Edna Francis Wachal on June 1, 1941, on a farm near Walker. He served as a sergeant in the Air Force from 1942 to 1946 during World War II. Ed was owner of John and Ed's Service for 28 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement, he worked for Midwest Auto Supply and Barron's Auto Supplier, finally retiring in 1994.
Ed enjoyed playing cards, making scroll saw wood workings and traveling with Edna. Edna and Ed traveled to every state west of the Mississippi and especially enjoyed their trip to Washington and northern California for their golden anniversary.
He was a member of Marion American Legion Post 298 and Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge 263.
