EDWARD "EDDIE" LOUIS KUBIK

Edward "Eddie" Louis Kubik, 78, of Walker, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at his home. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Walker United Methodist Church. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; children, Brian (Stephanie) Kubik of Marion and Sherri (Dan) Fox of Center Point; granddaughters, Zoelle and Natalia Kubik; siblings, Gladys Zavodsky of Marengo, Stan (Kay) Kubik of Walker and Gerald (Doris) Kubik of Central City; sisters-in-law, Grace Kubik of Center Point, Josephine Balvin of Cedar Rapids, Elva (Myron) Herman of Washington, Judy Soukup and Rachel (Dean) Willis, both of Marion, Juanita Eden of Framingham, Mass., and Rebecca (Steve) Vlcko of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances (Stroleny) Kubik; father- and mother-in-law, Russel (Mildred) Eden; brother, Raymond Kubik; sister, Martha (Max) Zeadow; brothers-in-law, Jerry Zavodsky, Allen Balvin, Calvin Eden and Robert Soukup; and sisters-in-law, Nelda (Eddie) Kiracofe and Velma Eden.
Eddie was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Walker, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Frances (Stroleny) Kubik. He graduated from Walker High School. On July 25, 1970, he married Bonnie Venita Eden. Eddie served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Cargill and Downing Box before he went to work on the family farm.
Eddie enjoyed bowling, softball, tractor pulls, Westerns and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed farming and hunting with his best friend, Don Lala. Eddie was an avid Hawkeye basketball and football fan. He also liked to fix cars and make homemade wine.
