Edward Harvey Kraus, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour before the services. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ed was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Gladys Otdoerfer Kraus. He graduated from high school in Volga. On Oct. 18, 1969, he married Bonnie Bunting at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello. He was employed at Hawkeye Rubber and Sattler Homes. He was an avid University of Iowa football and basketball fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, decent, generous and devoted husband and father who had an incredible sense of humor and was fully engaged in life.
Ed is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Kimberly Kraus and Kory Kraus; sisters, Jane Kraus, Jean Sheppard and Joyce Whiting; brothers-in-law, Larry Sheppard and Larry Whiting; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Gladys Kraus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Association in Ed's honor.
