Edward Hill, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Ed's family encourages everyone to wear a Hawkeye shirt in memory of Ed. Ed was born March 19, 1937, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of John and Bertha (Cole) Hill. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1956. Ed married the love of his life, Carolyn Ealy, on Oct. 11, 1958, in Jackson, Minn. They went on to have four children, Kim Hill, K-Lea (Dennis) Simonsen, Brett Hill, all of Cedar Rapids, and Jamie (Amanda) Hill of South Carolina; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Lucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hill.
Ed worked at Wilson Foods, Farmstead, 2 Star Security, and retired from Sears to care for his sick wife. He enjoyed going to garage sales with his buddy, Randy Kopp, and loved gambling with his friend, Bill Moore.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laura Runkle from hospice for her kind and compassionate care.
