EDWARD "NED" DAVITT

Edward "Ned" Davitt, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, died Jan. 2, 2017, at his home in San Antonio from cancer.
He leaves his three daughters, Lynn Beadle and husband Rick of Marion, Kathy Morrissey of Austin, Texas, and Amy Davitt of Gilbert, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dee and Kate; his wife, Margaret (Mickey) in 2008; and two sons, Patrick and Michael Davitt.
Ned was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sept. 18, 1936, to Henry and Frances (Nilles) Davitt. He married his wife, Margaret, of 50 years, on June 14, 1958. They raised their five children in Iowa City before moving to San Antonio in 1985.
Ned worked at Iowa Testing, Measurement Research Center and National Computer Systems in Iowa City and Psychological Corporation in San Antonio. Ned was innovative, hard working and a self-starter.
Ned had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes on people.
Ned was a very caring person. He had a love for his job, people he worked with, his family, Mercedes Benz, country western music and the San Antonio Spurs.
Funeral services were Jan. 5 at Holy Spirit Church in San Antonio. Porter-Loring North Mortuaries in San Antonio was in charge of the arrangements. You are invited to sign the guestbook at www.porterloring.com.
