Edward "Ed" Jacob Byers III, 71, of Coralville, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Colonial Manor, Amana. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with the Rev. Doug Williams officiating. Visitation will be before the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Essence of Life Hospice or Coralville United Methodist Church.
Ed was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Edward II and Virginia (Austin) Byers. He was united in marriage to Sue Harris on June 12, 1966, in Iowa City. Ed served in the National Guard as a paramedic. He was a very hard worker. Ed was a member of the Corvette Club. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, fishing, and playing piano and drums.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; two children, Troy (Roma) Byers of Coralville and Kim (Shane) Rosenberg of Amana; and seven grandchildren, Trevor, MacKenzie, Matthew, Jackson, Harrison, Owen and Keira.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Doyle Harris.
