EDNA (RENOUX) COLLIVER
Washington
Edna (Renoux) Colliver of Washington died peacefully in her home on Feb. 6, 2018, at the age of 81.
Edna is survived by her husband, Dwight; children, Chris and Cindy (Dale) Gonterman; grandchildren, Stephanie Miksch of Chicago and Donald (Sheri) Miksch; stepgrandchildren, Dan (Heather) Gonterman of Wayland and Tony Gonterman; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kinley Miksch, as well as five stepgreat-grandchildren; siblings, Loren "Skip" Renoux, Janet (Laurel) Roberts of Iowa City, Mart (Stan) Schooley of Brighton and Vivian "Sis" Anderson; sister-in-law and great friend, Becky Renoux; brother-in-law, Hal Colliver of West Chester; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Loretta (Davison) Renoux; her brother, Vic "Butch" Renoux; her brother, Marion Renoux and wife, Janet, of Marshalltown; sister-in-law, Marcie Renoux; one nephew; and three great-nephews.
Edna was born on Feb. 22, 1936, in Washington, Iowa, to John and Loretta Renoux. She graduated from West Chester High School in 1954. She married Dwight, the love of her life and her partner in everything, in 1955. Over 63 years, they welcomed two children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren into the world, and Edna set about teaching them the value of hard work along with the importance of enjoying life. Her main passions were her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; they were her pride and joy.
Edna and Dwight ran a grocery store in West Chester from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. They also built a family farm, and Edna continued to work on the farm until illness prevented her from continuing. Edna was a winter Texan, and spent many of those winters working as a manager at the VIP Motel in McAllen, Texas, and as the secretary for her homeowner's association. Edna was a passionate gardener and was known for the beautiful flowers surrounding her house. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and hosting gatherings at her home, which were attended by friends from throughout the United States and Canada.
