Edna Mae Nix of Marion, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Dianna Waters, in Jasper, Ark. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Edna under "photos and videos or media," starting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28.
The daughter of Edward and Elnora (Kitto) Loseau, Edna was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Cedar Rapids. Edna worked at Collins in Cedar Rapids for 27 years. She enjoyed doing crafts and scrapbooking with family and friends. She also loved going on cruises and trips with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael Smith and his wife, Thelma, of Harrison, Ark.; her daughter, Dianna Waters and her husband, Richard, of Jasper, Ark.; her son-in-law, Virgil Mullins of Blue Grass, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Junior C. Nix; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gail Nix of Marion; her daughter, Catherin Mullins of Blue Grass, Iowa; three brothers, Harry Loseau, Ted and Ivan Beetem; seven sisters, Rose, Violet and Audrey Beetem, Eva, Mary, Nellie and Helen Loseau; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
