Edna M. McDonough, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 9, 2021, at her home. A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Edna McDonough, under the video tab starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required.
Survivors include her husband, John; two daughters, Danele Stites of Cedar Rapids and Diane Stammeyer of Marion; and two sons, Douglas (Laura) of Fort Myers, Fla., and Daniel of Tallmadge, Ohio. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Edna was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Flint, Mich, the daughter of Bruce and Catherine (Swanson) Bortner. She married John E. McDonough on March 9, 1956, in Blue Earth, Minn.
Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, reading and decorating. She had a real flair for gardening as well as enjoying golf with her husband and friends.
Edna will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established. Please leave message or tribute to the McDonough family on our web page, www.cedarmemorial.com under Obituaries.
