Edna P. Jansen, 91, of Onslow, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Anamosa Care Center with her family by her side. Her visitation will be Monday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at First Presbyterian Church in Onslow, with burial to follow at the Wyoming Cemetery.
Edna was born March 4, 1924, in Martelle, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Nancy (Duncan) Jensen. She graduated from Onslow High School in 1941. She married Daryl Jansen on Sept. 8, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. They farmed together on the family century farm near Onslow.
Edna was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Onslow. She enjoyed mowing lawns, bowling and cooking and baking, especially her strawberry jam and famous chocolate chip cookies.
Edna and Daryl enjoyed dancing, riding their Goldwing motorcycle, wintering in Arizona and playing cards. They also enjoyed attending their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events.
She is survived by two children, Gary (Joyce) Jansen, Onslow, and Shirlee Brunscheen, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Tammy (Jamie) McAllister and Terry (Selita) Jansen, both of Marion, Lisa (Todd) Rickels and Kris (Lucas) Gobeli, both of Monticello; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daryl; her parents; three sisters; two brothers; and her son-in-law, Eugene Brunscheen.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Onslow First Presbyterian Church.
A special thank-you to the Anamosa Care Center for their wonderful care of Edna the last 6 ½ years.
