EDNA MAE GORKOW

Edna Mae Gorkow was born May 30, 1919, in Dundee, Iowa, to Ben and Ella Carrie (Haimbrodt) Hartbeck. She died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, in Rolla, Mo.
She graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1936. She taught third and fourth grades for 21 years in Bertram and Walford schools. She married Elwin Ellsworh Gorkow on July 22, 1945, in Lancaster, Wis. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1968.
She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Leota Hartbeck Gray, Mildred Hartbeck Reynolds and Glen Hartbeck; and her stepchildren, Charles Gorkow, Marian Gorkow Hartke, William Gorkow and Thelma Gorkow.
She was a longtime member of Clover Ridge Methodist Church in Walford.
She is survived by a daughter, Wendy and husband Dirk Ammala of Rolla; and niece, Marilyn Miihall of Fayette. She also is survived by a large extended family, including stepdaughter-in-law, Lucille Harris; her children, Jerry Gorkow, Tom Gorkow, Merri Chris Gorkow Hawker, Jeff Gorkow and Marsha Gorkow Schaul; and stepgrandchildren, Larry Duball, Deb Duball Ramsden, Dave Duball, Tim Duball, Bobby Hartke, Marty Gorkow, Steve Gorkow, Pat Gorkow and Julie Gorkow Lefebure.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 7, at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford. A visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m., with services at 4 p.m.
