Edna N. Carter, 90, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Hrabak Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Johnson presiding. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Edna was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Millersburg to Willis and Edna Hillman Shaull. She completed the eighth grade at a local country school. On Feb. 17, 1947, she married Everett H. Carter in North English. She was a homemaker and, with her husband, farmed southeast of Belle Plaine. Everett and Edna had two daughters, Sharon (Steve) Schwab of Belle Plaine and Margaret (Steve) Deimerly of Marengo.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, nine great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, in 2008; her parents; brothers, Jerry and Alfred Shaull; sisters, Fern Grimm, Lila Schultz amd Opal Gerard; and a step-granddaughter, Heather Lukes.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
