Edna P. Allman, 97, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Clarence, went to her heavenly home Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at UnityPoint Hospice-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at Clarence United Methodist Church, by Pastor Carol Mart. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery after lunch at the church. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Harrison County, Iowa, daughter of Clarence and Pearl (Lytel) Bendon, she married Ferman "Jack" Allman on Feb. 19, 1937, in Neola. They were married for 60 years before his death on March 14, 1997.
Edna was a Christian, a member of Clarence Methodist Church and a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She enjoyed her life in Clarence for over 60 years.
Survivors include a son, Edward (Doris) Allman of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Eva Myers of Cedar Rapids and Carolyn (Lee) Cooper of Apache Junction, Ariz.; grandchildren, Teri (Dave) Svoboda, Stephanie (Matt) French, Wendy (Roger) Schmitz, Tracy Eckard, David Allman, Laura (John Hubbard) Cooper, Douglas (Karin) Cooper, Jeff (Gail) Hilleshiem and Jon Hilleshiem; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Allman; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Mary, son Wayne, three brothers and grandson James Cooper.
