Edmondson, Preston

Preston Edmondson, 92, of Washington, transitioned Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington after declining in health for the past year. Celebration of Life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Ainsworth Community Church in Ainsworth, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Interment, with military honors, will take place at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Preston is survived by his wife, Joyce Edmondson of Washington; son, Craig Edmondson of Columbus Junction; son, Alan Edmondson and wife Julie of Columbus Junction; stepsons, Ron Greene of Iowa City, Jeff Greene of Fairfield and Larry Greene and wife Judi and their three children of Alleman, Iowa; brother, Clair “Rollin” Edmondson of Washington; sister, Correne Hendrickson of Muscatine; sister, Myra Piotrowski of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials have been established to Hospice of Washington County and the Washington County Hospital Foundation.
