Edmonds, Avis Mae
Avis Mae Edmonds, 60, of 1413 80th St., Palo, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center after losing a battle with breast cancer; a battle she never had a chance to fight. Services: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Covington Church by Pastor Clinton Jeffers where friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Avis is survived by her husband, Ronald; mother, Evelyn Snethen of Palo; son, Mickel (Peggy) Edmonds of Marion; daughter, Candie Edmonds of Palo; four grandchildren, ChelseaMae (Billy) Kounse of Central City, Edmond Louis and Nicholas James, both of Palo, and Zachary Edmonds of Marion; great-granddaughter, Taylor Rose Kounse of Central City; and three sisters, Wylma Snethen of Cedar Rapids, Teddy Ballard of Independence, Mo., and Sandy (Steve) Townsend of Cambridge.
Avis was preceded in death by her father, Theo.
Avis was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Theo and Evelyn Kelsey Snethen. She married Ronald Edmonds on Dec. 5, 1970, in Covington.
Avis gave her life to care for others. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.
