Edmond Charles Landuyt, 60, of Belle Plaine, died tragically Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, in a car accident.
He was born at the Corn Belt Hospital in Belle Plaine on Nov. 1, 1953, to Edmond R. and Dorothy (Dvorak) Landuyt. He graduated in 1971 from Belle Plaine High School and later joined the Army, where he served in the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He married Nancy Hagen on April 29, 1983, at the courthouse in Vinton.
Eddie was a loving father and husband and adored his granddaughters. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dogs and birds. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, rooting for the Hawkeyes, debating politics and going for his nightly rides. He will be sadly missed by family and his numerous friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine by Deacon Joe Behounek with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Amanda Landuyt (Jeff Wyatt) of Belle Plaine, Stephanie (Nathan) Eichenberger of Grinnell and Evonne Landuyt (Joey Kadera) of Chelsea; two granddaughters, Alivia and Sophia; grandson, Alex; father, Edmond R. Landuyt; and two sisters, Penny (Dennis) Wiese of Belle Plaine and Susan (Damian) Bukowy of Memphis, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Dvorak Landuyt; sister, Sharon Anderson; and a brother, Steven Landuyt.
