Edleman, Norma Dell (Funke)
Norma Dell (Funke) Edleman, 80, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.
Norma was born March 21, 1931, in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Emma (Deutmeyer) Funke. Norma grew up on the family farm north of Dyersville and lived there until she moved to Cedar Rapids, where she spent the rest of her adult life. She married Robert W. Edleman on Oct. 29. 1966. They were previous owners of the Plaza Auto Auction in Mount Vernon, Iowa. After Robert passed away in July 1991, Norma continued on with the business, until her retirement in 2003. Norma enjoyed traveling and visited countries worldwide. She loved animals and the outdoors, and she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Cedar Rapids.
Norma is survived by her three stepchildren, Harry Edleman of Miami Beach, Fla., Vickie (Bob) Cockrane of Lynnfield, Mass., and David Edleman of Bradenton, Fla.; and stepgrandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leroy (Lois) Funke of Dyersville, Dennis (Jean) Funke of Dubuque, Vila Hofer of Dubuque, and Marilyn (Roger) Mescher of Dyersville; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Funke and Jan Funke of Dyersville; brother-in-law, Gerald (Kay) Edleman of Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; her brothers, Robert and David Funke; a brother-in-law, Dale Hofer; sister-in-law, Elaine Smith; and nephews; Scott Funke (in infancy) and Dean Funke.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at The Immaculate Conception Parish with a visitation to be held before the service at 9:30 a.m. Services are under the direction of Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
