Edith Mae Turkington, 78, of Marion, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Edith was born Aug. 3, 1937, the daughter of John and Minnie (Schobert) Cole in Colesburg, Iowa. On Dec. 31, 1956, she married Robert Turkington. They divorced in 1982. Edith worked as a custodian for Kirkwood Community College before retiring in 2002. She loved to play bingo and card games. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. More than anything, Edith loved her family. She greatly enjoyed spending time with them and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her children, Candy Riley, Vicki (Kurt) Ossmann, Gary (Mary) Turkington and Susan Turkington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Jay Turkington; sister, Kathryn (John) Berge; and brother, Ralph (Norma) Cole.
Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Edith.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff at Crestview Acres for their devoted love and care to Edith over the past 13 years.
