Edith Mae Travagiakis, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. A private funeral service will take place at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required.
Edith was born March 1, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Ishmael Hugh and Edith Mae (Krebs) Parry. She was united in marriage to Sam Travagiakis on Jan. 7, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Edith retired as director of reception at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids in 1991. She was a member of the Cedar Auxiliary. Edith enjoyed sewing, cake decorating and many crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Kennedy (Christopher) of Marion; grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy (Emily) of Cedar Rapids, Kyle Kennedy of Muscatine, Amber Pappas (Michael) of North Carolina, Eric Travagiakis (Lindsay) of Cedar Rapids, Amy Cannon (Shawn) of Cedar Rapids and Terence Travagiakis (Laura) of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Cindy Travagiakis.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Sam, in 2010; son, Steven; and siblings, Claudia Baker, James Parry, Elizabeth Gotchy, Genevieve, John Parry, Maxine Lange and Irvin Parry.
