Edith Marie (Boddicker) McBurney, 83, of Toddville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Faith Bible Church, located at 1800 46th St. NE, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the church, with Pastor Steve Benton officiating. Burial will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Toddville. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Edith was born on Jan. 9, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Donald and Louise (McCalla) Boddicker. She graduated from Alburnett High School in Alburnett, Iowa. Edith was united in marriage to Melvin Allen McBurney on Jan. 14, 1956, at Free Methodist Church in Toddville. To this union, three children were born, Jerry, Candy, and David. Edith worked for United Fire & Casualty in Cedar Rapids as a secretary. She was a member of Faith Bible Church. The two most important things in Edith's life were her relationship with the Lord our Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Edith is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Jerry McBurney of Marion, Candy McBurney of Center Point, Iowa, and David (Diana) McBurney of Palo, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kara Kirk, Kendra (John) Myers Jr., Adam (Nikki) Rowe, Amy (Brad) Rechkemmer, Shelly (Scott) Sauer and Stefanie Becker; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Suzanne Hawley and Elizabeth (James) Hungerford, both of Knoxville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Louise Boddicker; husband, Allen McBurney; grandson, Jesse McBurney; and daughter-in-law, Camie McBurney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Edith's memory may be made to Faith Bible Church.
