Edison, Maye A.
Maye A. Edison, a former long time Cedar Rapids resident and past owner/operator of the E.D. McCoy Insurance Agency, died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in Mission Viejo, Calif., at the age of 86. Born Oct. 30, 1923, at Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Edison retired with her late husband, Ralph S. Edison, to Orange County, Calif., in 1974, where she has resided until the time of her death last month.
Surviving are a brother, George Keeton of Mason City, Iowa; a daughter, Sandra L. McCoy of Edina, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Patricia Meldrom of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a son, Steven M. McCoy of Bronx, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Maximilian D. McCoy and Tatiana M. McCoy of Bogota, Colombia, South America, both of whom are attending college in New York State.
Mrs. Edison was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and a current member of Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Hills, Calif. She also maintained her membership in the Cedar Rapids Elks Club over the years and was a former member of Elmcrest Country Club and the National Association of Independent Insurance Agents.
Memorial Service and Burial Arrangements: In keeping with her final wishes, family members will conduct a private memorial service and preside over burial arrangements at sea in the Pacific Ocean.
