Eder, Ronald Dean
Ronald Dean Eder, 66, of Clinton, Ark., formerly of Garrison, Minn., and Jesup and Volga, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Clinton. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga. Pastor Lin Reichstadter will preside. A Celebration of Life luncheon and time for sharing will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Ron was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Oelwein, to Henry H. "Pete" and Bertha (Wiseman) Eder. Ron attended Volga Public School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961. Ron was disabled with injures while on duty with the Army. He never let his disability stop him from anything he chose to do in his life. He worked as a carpenter and a fishing guide on Mille Lacs Lake until his health required he retire and move to Arkansas in 1999.
Ron enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. Over the years his favorite toys were his boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles and his Corvette.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joyce Eder, Clinton, Ark.; two stepsons, Roy Wilcox (Georgia), New Brighton, Minn., and Ben Wilcox (Maria), Clinton, Ark.; three stepgrandchildren, Nicole Wilcox, New Brighton, Minn., and Chris and Robert Wilcox, California; brother, Michael H. Eder (Helen), Jesup; sister, Lavonda “Sue” Meyer (Gary), Garnavillo; four nephews and two nieces, their spouses and children; and his buddy, Bear kitty.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha Eder; brother in infancy, Gary Dean Eder; first wife, Mary Jane (Leonard) Eder; nephew, Jon Michael Eder; and stepgrandson, Jeremy Wilcox.
