Eden, Velma M.
Velma M. Eden, 76, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, died there Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. Services will be private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Laura Smith from Kenwood Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her sisters, Nelda Kiracofe of North Liberty, Josephine Balvin (Allen) of Cedar Rapids, Elva Herman (Myron) of Harper, Iowa, Bonnie Kubik (Edward) of Walker, Judy Soukup of Hiawatha, Rachel Willis (Dean) of Marion, Juanita Eden of Framingham, Mass., and Rebecca Vlcko (Steve) of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Calvin Eden; and brothers-in-law, Edward Kiracofe and Robert Soukup.
Velma was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Central City, Iowa, the daughter of Russel and Mildred (Moyer) Eden. She worked for Rockwell Collins for over 30 years. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Rockwell Retirees and the Beaus & Belles Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, knitting and country music. Her church was very important to her and attended service every week.
Velma was a very caring person. She enjoyed getting together for family events and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She cared for her mother after her dad's passing.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
