Eden, Alvina
Alvina Eden, 95, of Anamosa, died Oct. 26, 2010, at Silvercrest of Anamosa. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. directly following the visitation. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa.
Surviving are her children, Elaine (John) Secrist of Monticello and Duaine (Sheila) Eden of Monticello; a sister, Velva Gadient of Monticello; a brother, Dorrance (Mary Pat) Holub of Coggon; eight grandchildren, Nichole, Aimee, John, Annah, Kristin, Paul, Dawn and Jeni; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1974; a special friend, Barney McGovern, in 2001; her parents; sister, Violet (Crowley) Anstaetter; two brothers, Irvin and Arthur Holub; and a grandson, Jeffrey.
Alvina Eden was born March 4, 1915, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Rose (Marek) Holub. On Jan. 3, 1940, Alvina and John Eden were united in marriage in Prairieburg. Alvina farmed with John in Cass Township until shortly after his death. She then moved to Anamosa.
She was a member and very active in St Patrick's Catholic Church. Alvina moved to Silvercrest of Anamosa in 2004 where she enjoyed praying, activities, residents and great staff. She called Silvercrest home.
She will be missed by all. May she rest in God's arms.
