Edaburn, Melvin C. 'Mel'
Melvin C. “Mel” Edaburn, 80, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in its Hospice Unit. Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Private family burial: Campbell Cemetery. Per Mel's' request the casket will be closed at all times. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
On June 4, 1955, he married Patricia Workman. They were blessed with three children, Dale (Lori), Diana and David (Mary). Mel is also survived by four grandchildren, Whitney, Jack, and Kirby Edaburn and Chelsea (Andrew) McCallum; a brother, Richard; and many friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Diana.
Melvin grew up on the family farm near Toddville. He had a great love for the outdoors. After graduation he served in the Navy during the Korean War. After being discharged he worked 28 years at FMC-Link Belt and 10 years at Rockwell Goss until his retirement.
In 1971, Melvin was baptized as one of Jehovah's Christian Witnesses and was an active member for 44 years.
After his illness he had been rehabbing at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. “The family would like to thank the staff for their care.”
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
