Eberhardt, Kenneth W. 'Bill'
Kenneth W. “Bill” Eberhardt, 86, went to be with his Lord on Nov. 10, 2009, at San Antonio, Texas.
He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Alden, Iowa, to William H. and Nan (Seaton) Eberhardt. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School and attended Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls. He spent the first 34 years of his life on the Eberhardt family farm. He spent over 39 years in the insurance industry, working for New York Life, Iowa Farm Bureau and building his own independent insurance agency in Cedar Rapids. He was a crop hail adjuster for Square Deal Insurance Co. for 25 years. He also had a farm seed business. He loved living on his farm near Center Point for many years. He retired at age 78 and moved to San Antonio, Texas to live.
Bill was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 65-year member of Masonic Lodge, Past Master of Alden, Iowa Lodge 366, dual member of Atascosa Lodge 379, Lytle, Texas, Alzafar Shrine, San Antonio, Adah Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Past Patron, Iowa Center Point Chapter 380 OES. He served as a 4-H leader for many years in Iowa Falls and was a member of a male chorus group there. He loved singing in the church choirs with his lovely tenor voice and praising the Lord through song. He was also past chairman of the board of deacons at Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bonnie; his son, Kenneth W. Eberhardt II and wife Pamela and granddaughters, Elizabeth, Rebekah and Hannah Eberhardt of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Carole N. Moore and husband S. Timothy Moore, and granddaughters, Kathryn and Megan Moore of South Amana; sister, Mary Roed of Mankato, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Bradshaw and Patricia Ainslile; and grandson, Anthony C. Moore.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Chapel Hill Methodist Church, 4114 S.W. Loop 410, San Antonio. Visitation will be after the service at the Chapel Hill Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Methodist Church, San Antonio, Texas; any Masonic affiliate or to a charity of your choice.
