Eastin, Clella C.
Clella C. Eastin, 88, of Burlington, died at Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa, on Thursday morning, Dec. 27, 2012.
Born Aug. 3, 1924, in Bethany, Mo., she was the daughter of George L. and Mary Ellen Foote Hamilton. She married Dean Edmond Eastin on April 28, 1943, in Trenton, Mo. He died Jan. 13, 2005.
Clella was employed by the Leopold Co. for 20 years and Sylvania for 17 years. She loved flowers, family dinners, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a member of SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Sharon (Berkeley Brandt III) Heintz of Ventura, Calif., Sheryl Eastin of Iowa City, Iowa, Sue (Jim) Engler of Coralville, Iowa and Sandra (Wilbur) Grinnell of Burlington; two sons, Gregory (Sue) Eastin and Steven Eastin, both of Burlington; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nina Fuller of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Jeffrey and Michael; daughter-in-law Toni Eastin; five brothers, Elza, Bert, Raymond, Clifford and Truman; and four sisters, Florence, Maude, Ruby and Martha.
Funeral Mass for Clella C. Eastin will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, Iowa. Celebrant will be Father David Steinle. Special music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The rosary will be recited in Prugh's Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 4 p.m.; the family will then receive friends until 6 p.m.
Memorials have been established for St. Jude's Research Hospital and SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church Altar & Rosary Society.
