Earl Lewis Taylor, 92,
of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Mercy Hallmar. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Elizabeth Dickey. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Norway. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Earl is survived by his wife, Marlys; daughter, Barbara Fortune of Pleasant Hill; and granddaughter, Michelle Fortune of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael Fortune; and brother, William Taylor.
Earl Lewis was born on Oct. 26, 1923, in Norway, the son of Leland and Mary Holets Taylor. He married Marlys Rose Paulsen on Oct. 28, 1950, in Newhall. Earl served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Upper Iowa University and the University of Iowa. For 37 years, Earl worked for Johnson Gas and Appliance Company, retiring in 1989.
Earl loved watching Iowa Hawkeye football. He was a member of the St. Clair 164 Masonic Lodge for 71 years.
