Earl Stickley, 74, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, follow-ing an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday morning, May 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Please dress casually for the service; Hawkeye shirts are appropriate. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, is caring for Earl and the family.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta; two daughters, Debra Stoecker and Angela (Brian) Hanley, both of Cedar Rapids; five grand-children, Shawn, Ashley and Jordan Stoecker, Cody and Rachel Hanley; a brother, Eldon of Madill, Okla.; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stickley, and his aunt, Esther Weideman, both of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Galen.
Earl Dwayne Stickley was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Ryan, Iowa, the son of Dwayne and Verna Keating Stickley. Earl attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and graduated from Anamosa Community Schools in 1959. He worked at the Anamosa Creamery before starting his career at Collins Radio. Earl married Roberta Lawrence at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Feb. 7, 1970. Earl retired from Rockwell Collins in 1995.
In his younger years, Earl participated in area rodeos in the calf roping competition. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, but his grandchildren and their activities were the most important part of his life.
